This week, KFC claims a very unique win. In a creative move that most would probably discount as stupid, KFC's Twitter account quietly followed the 5 Spice Girls and 6 men named Herb - "11 Herbs and Spices." This tiny, subtle and most importantly free move sparked off an absolutely viral chain of memes and tweets from accounts with millions of followers, earning KFC millions of dollars in free publicity and impressions. We see you, KFC.
Taking the loss is Saatchi & Saatchi, a massive creative agency. Creative Director Justin Tindall publishes a commentary where he states he is," Bored of diversity being prioritized over talent," - showing that the ad industry still has a long way to go when it comes to understanding diversity's impact on better creative work. He had to issue an apology on behalf of the agency.
